Participative Games and Simulations for Learning Lean: An Instruction Book for Facilitators covering process and people in manufacturing and service.

The Lean Games and Simulation Book – by John Bicheno

Second edition, 2015

With 13 new games this second edition now contains 48 games or simulations, some of them extensive.
John Bicheno takes a broad view of  ‘Lean’ and therefore includes games that can be connected with six sigma, Factory Physics, Theory of Constraints, TWI, Deming philosophy, Lean accounting, and psychology – as well as more conventional Lean areas. Many of these are required for successful Lean implementation.

‘Kata’ and AAR (After Action Reviews – also called Debriefing) can be incorporated with many of the games, old and new. Likewise doing an A3 exercise alongside the games will give practice in structured problem solving. These three new games or exercises are the first three in the book. Combining one of these with other games will extend the time, but will help to embed the learning for participants and will help the instructor to improve facilitation skills.
